Where Is Buddylee? – The Adventures Of A Lovable Basset Hound Skip to content Where Is Buddylee? The Adventures Of A Lovable Basset Hound Menu Home About Contact Buddyleesh Sitemap Thoughts From a Loving Mama Saturday was a very tough day- made easier for me because I had to be at work, helping many people who had never had the honor or the pleasure of meeting Mr BuddyLee. But, being in downtown Portsmouth, NH also meant seeing many people who often met Budd while he was on his daily rounds. How to lighten the moment when people ask how The Boys are and get the sad news. And so I told a few stories from the Early Years: Shortly after BuddyLee arrived at his NH home for the first time we realized that there were two things we needed to do immediately. BuddyLee had already wiggled his way onto every downstairs chair to pick his favorite spots, so that problem was solved. We, however, needed to fence in the back yard and move the kitchen garbage. The yard was fenced and the garbage bag moved from the basket on the floor to the second kitchen sink. Problems solved until we left the house. After coming home several times to find trash on the kitchen floor, we left- loudly closing the windowed door between the kitchen and entry. Ten seconds later, as we looked on, there was BuddyLee standing up at the sink, front paws hanging on, dragging out the garbage. We finally convinced him that this was not a good thing until one night we forgot to put the kitchen bag in the barn. The plastic container from a roast chicken had been put in the bag and forgotten. We had all gone upstairs to bed, but later in the night, BuddyLee went down and raided the bag in the sink. Not being able to open the closed container himself, he carried it upstairs, woke up his Mama and asked her to please help. I could go on and will, when asked, but now will say only how I have missed that young BuddyLee even as I adored the older version, how lucky I feel to have been diverted by a broken water main on Riverside Drive that December 04th many years ago, how happy all Budd’s many loving friends and adoring family made that gregarious Town Crier. No longer happy barking at the bottom of the stairs- “Your Late! 9:00, time to leave for work”, happy barking as the door opened at Fair Skies @ 5:00- “Dad and I are going for a walk! We’ll pick you up @ 6”. Thank you all for your thoughts, we are so thankful that BuddyLee didn’t have to go through a long decline. He was slow, but happy until the very end. Best always, Corbe Author adminPosted on June 17, 2015June 17, 2015Tags basset hound, basset hounds, bassethounds, buddylee, Happy Hound, hound, Mr. BuddyleeLeave a comment on Thoughts From a Loving Mama Where Is Buddylee, June 13, 2015 Today’s answer to the question : Where is Buddylee? Is a sad one. Corbe always says, when she found Buddylee in the middle of a well-trafficked road(about to be hit) almost 14 years ago, that every day we had with our wonderful hound was a bonus. Based on an age guess, we have had roughly 5000 bonus days. Mr. B’s life has been slipping away ever since we have returned from Florida, so after several rough days we had to make the inevitable decision this morning. In lieu of flowers please send “likes” and “loves” and be sure and spend a few minutes on whereisbuddylee.com to view the many photos that represent our Happy Hound’s life. This blog image was taken this morning at 8:00AM and is Mosey saying his goodbye to his brother. (both pups were breathing comfortably, but Bud is worn out) Author adminPosted on June 13, 2015June 13, 2015Tags buddylee, hound, jack russell terrier, mosey, Mr. Buddylee1 Comment on Where Is Buddylee, June 13, 2015 Mr. Buddylee & Mosey: The long & the short of it. After years and years we finally found a stuffed toy longer than the Happy Hound. Mr. Buddylee and Mosey can share the same toy and never get in each others’ space. So far the 24 legs are still attached. Mr. Buddylee Update to an Update We spotted “Tinybite”, a 6 foot gator who is using the boat launch inlet as her livingroom. Possibly a month by month lease during the Spring and Summer? The Happy Hound and Little Imp head North in a couple of weeks. They won’t be cooling their belly’s any time soon in the Withlacoochee River. For most residents this is a Town boat ramp. For 4 legged residents including the Happy Hound and Little Imp this is a dog ramp/wading pool. A cool moment after their mid day walk. Update: A baby gator has been spotted not far from this ramp so the pups will not be untethered from their leashes during their daily wade. Mr. Buddylee is all ears when listening to this “Fire Igniter” explaining the equipment on his fire control truck. In the near future on the grounds of the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve, Mr. Buddylee and Mosey’s favorite walking park, a controlled burn will be thinning the under brush. Performed regularly, the burns lessen the possibility of devastating forest fires, recycles nutrients back to the soil, and promotes the growth of trees, wildflowers, and other plants. This means the Happy Hound and Little Imp’s “playground” will be around for a long time. Mr. Buddylee and Mosey Enjoy Florida’s White Stuff. Surf’s Up! for Mr. Buddylee. Our old boy was feeling his oats on St. Augustine Beach this past weekend. He was ready for body surfing, but we forgot his wetsuit. Mosey was intrigued by the shore birds, wading in the surf and looking for tasty crustaceans. Just South of the Happy Hound and Little Imp were body surfing humans plunging into the best waves all week. We all enjoyed the waves and Florida’s “white stuff” blanketing the sand. New Hampshire’s “white stuff” is another story. The Happy Hound is aging gracefully and happy not to need his toes freed of ice or snow chunks. The Little Imp has no idea what the white stuff is. HERE IS a recent photo of Buddylee and Mosey’s New Hampshire headquarters. The Brothers, BuddyMoseyLee, are enjoying a warm winter afternoon on the bank of the Withlacoochee River in Dunnellon, Florida(15 miles up river from their home). The gentle slope into the River, in Centennial Park, makes a great “dog launch”. Mr. Buddylee’s ears are perfect dip sticks for measuring the depth of this fresh water source.
